Kimi Ryokan

2-36-8 Ikebukuro
Tokyo Japan 171-0014

For travelers who want to get away from the familiarity of queen-sized beds and carpeted hotel floors, a stay at a ryokan (traditional Japanese inn) will not disappoint. The best of these are found deep in the countryside, usually around hot springs, and a quality ryokan in Tokyo is becoming a rarity. But the budget-friendly Kimi Ryokan gets such good reviews that it's advisable to make reservations well in advance. Guests will exchange their shoes for indoor slippers upon entry, and can choose a tatami room large enough to suit their party. Bedding will be futons laid out on the floor. Note that ryokan have communal showers and toilets. The Kimi also offers a Japanese style ofuro (bath) for general use.
